R.A.D. Self-Defense Training
In an effort to educate female students in the area of self-defense, the Lehigh University Police Department offers instruction in the Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) Program.
We will be hosting a special RAD training session for students, faculty and staff. The scheduled dates of RAD training are:

The RAD System is a program of realistic, self-defense tactics and techniques for women only. It is a comprehensive course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training. RAD is dedicated to teaching women defensive concepts and techniques against various types of assault, by utilizing easy, effective and proven self-defense/martial arts tactics. RAD is not a martial arts class. This program is designed for the average woman with no previous experience or background in physical skills training. The system of realistic defense will provide a woman with the knowledge to make an educated decision about resistance. Safety and survival in today’s world requires a definite course of action. The RAD system provides effective options by teaching women to take an active role in their own self-defense and psychological well-being.
Participants will have the opportunity to: raise their awareness of aggressive behavior, recognize how aggressive behavior impacts their lives, learn steps to avoid aggressive behavior, consider how they can be part of reducing aggression and violence, and practice hands-on self-defense skills to resist and escape aggressive behavior directed toward them. This program is designed to empower participants to make safer choices when confronted with aggressive behavior.
Lehigh University Police Department offers this course free to faculty, staff, and students. The basic physical defense class is 12 hours, divided up into four days, three hours each day.
