Over the past year, the Pride Center for Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity has re-envisioned the way we offer trainings & educational opportunities to faculty, staff, and students. We are excited to launch our new training model in the spring of 2016, LUally.
LUally delivers skills-based, educational opportunities for the Lehigh community, while centering the philosophy that allyship is a continuous process that looks different for everyone. Participants have the ability to personalize their learning to meet their own goals as an ally and track their engagement with the Pride Center and LUally-affiliated opportunities.

The Pride Center's Statement on Allyship
We believe that allyship is an active, lifelong commitment to showing up for and advocating alongside historically marginalized communities. By leveraging power and privilege, allies practice ongoing learning, embrace challenges, & own their mistakes in order to create a socially just world for all.
- Lifelong learners
- Willing to make mistakes
- Mindful of multiple identities
- Accountable for their actions & the actions of their communities
- Respecful of all stories
What happened to Safe Zone training?
Safe Zone at Lehigh is now LUally. Much of the content that was included in previous versions of Safe Zone at Lehigh is incorporated in LUally opportunities. However, this content is supplemented by additional skills-based activities that are customized and individualized based on the audience.
How will members of the Lehigh community know that I’m an LUally?
All LUally participants receive an official LUally sticker that they are encouraged to display prominently on their door, workspace, or other visible location. As LUally participants continue to engage in learning opportunities, they will receive badges that can be added to their sticker as well as tracked online on CourseSite.
Additionally, LUally participants can enroll themselves in the LUally page on CourseSite, where they can engage with a network of LUallies, exchange resources, find new training opportunities, and more.
How many trainings do I have to attend to be an LUally?
We believe that allyship is an ongoing journey with endless space for growth and development. Anyone who attends an LUally-affiliated opportunity is eligible to receive the official LUally sticker and to begin adding badges to their sticker. More badges signal to LGBTQ+ Lehigh community members that your allyship is active. We encourage you to attend what is most helpful or challenging for your journey.
What kinds of opportunities can I access through LUally?
LUally-affiliated opportunities are updated regularly on the LUally CourseSite, and include in-person trainings that are both for specific groups as well as those open to the campus community, informal discussions, lectures, events, facilitated conversations, and more!
How can I get more involved in LUally?
There are many ways that students, faculty, & staff can be engaged with our program. Students may want to consider joining SPEAK, Lehigh's gender & sexuality peer educators, and can get more information by contacting Chris O'Neill at firstname.lastname@example.org. Faculty & staff who are interested can complete this form or contact Amanda Slichter at email@example.com for more information about involvement opportunities.
How can I request an LUally training for my group (department, course, student organization, etc)?
Please complete a request form here at least 2 weeks in advance of your desired training date. For last-minute requests, which may be accepted on a case-by-case basis, contact Amanda Slichter at firstname.lastname@example.org.
