Building Supervisor Position Overview

The Building Supervisor position is vital to the entire function of our Student Center Facilities and is an excellent position to gain leadership and teamwork experience, enhance your customer service skills, participate in identity development, and connect transferable skills to career development. The hiring process is conducted immediately following the Fall work-study job fair until the third day of classes.

Building Supervisors

  • Are expected to handle the day to day operations at the University Center Information Desk proficiently and with integrity

  • Are expected to coordinate audio-visual set-up and take-down of equipment in meeting rooms and public spaces

  • Are expected to handle all aspects of the University lost and found

  • Are expected to Issue student organization keys according to protocol

  • Are expected to handle the security for the building and to secure the building at lock up

  • Are expected to assist with office-related duties i.e. answering phones, giving directions, providing information, running errands on campus

  • Are expected to complete all other duties as assigned


Paid training lasts approximately four weeks.  Each trainee must attend a variety of training sessions to gain a perspective of how the building operates.  Topics covered will include general day-to-day responsibilities, building knowledge, emergency preparedness, audiovisual operations, and building lock-up.  In order to become fully acclimated, trainees will be required to work two weekday hours, one weekday 5 – 8:30 p.m. shift, four-weekday lockup 8:30 p.m. – 12-midnight shifts, one-weekend morning shift, and attend weekly one-hour staff meetings.  At the conclusion of training, each Building Supervisor will take a knowledge review before arranging a set weekly schedule.  If open shifts exist after all staff hours are scheduled, staff who have not been assigned either a Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday shift will be placed on a rotation schedule. All staff must attend a paid weekly staff meeting scheduled at 4:30 p.m. Two days will be offered each week, the meeting days will vary each semester based on the Graduate Assistant schedule and Building Manager availability.  Weekly staff meetings will rotate content and are to be considered a working shift.

The pay rate begins at $9.00 per hour.
