Join Phi Alpha Delta & the Center for Gender Equity for a panel on addressing gender based violence through the legal system. Panelists: Judge Michelle Weber Judge Michelle Weber was appointed as a Criminal Court judge in April 2024. After graduating from law school, she joined the Kings County District Attorney's Office where she began her legal career as a misdemeanor line assistant in the Red Trial Zone. She went on to serve as grand jury assistant and senior assistant district attorney in different trial zones, including the Special Victims Bureau and Crimes Against Children Bureau before becoming the deputy bureau chief of the Domestic Violence Bureau, Integrated Domestic Violence Court. Prior to her appointment to the bench, Judge Weber served as the unit chief of the Elder Abuse Unit of the Domestic Violence Bureau. Michelle Kaminsky Chief of the Gender Based Violence Division at the Kings County (Brooklyn) District Attorney's Office. Michelle started in the District Attorney’s Office in 1992, right after graduating from Brooklyn Law School. In 1997, she joined the Domestic Violence Bureau as a felony trial attorney. In that capacity, she investigated, prosecuted and tried numerous intimate partner assaults and complex homicides. From 2014-2022, Michelle was the Chief of the Domestic Violence Bureau. Jennifer Long Jennifer Gentile Long (MGA, JD) currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of AEquitas, which she co-founded in April 2009 and serves as an expert on issues related to the prosecution of sexual violence and gender-based violence and human trafficking. She began her career as an Assistant District Attorney in Philadelphia where she prosecuted cases involving adult and child physical and sexual abuse and served on a team in the Family Violence and Sexual Assault Unit. After her departure, served as an advocate for victims of domestic violence and child abuse in Bermuda and Philadelphia, respectively. The Baker Institute invites all students, staff, and faculty to join us for our monthly EUREKA! Pitch Nights. Our Shark Tank-like events provide students with the opportunity to stand on stage and pitch their own ideas about how to solve a problem or meet a need that they have identified in the world. Teams work with mentors from the Baker Institute to refine their pitch decks and improve the ways in which they communicate the value of their project to others. Those who can confidently present their concepts to the audience and special external reviewers will receive up to $1,000 in fellowship funding to help them continue to make progress on their venture project!
