Trauma-informed yoga is a research proven way to help survivors of sexual trauma and those experiencing vicarious trauma heal from their trauma symptoms. It is a combination of focused breathing and mindfulness skills, as well as healing poses. Trauma-informed yoga is an opportunity to learn how to work with your own discomforts. It is a judgment free zone where every participant is able to go at their own pace and skill level. The practice is not meant to be a high cardio or strength training workout, it focuses on grounding, breathing, and mindfulness with comfortable, stretching poses.
Our instructor, Liz Jordon, is certified in trauma-informed practice. The instructor does not leave her own mat and will never touch participants to adjust their pose throughout the practice. It is a space where your body is entirely yours.
Students, faculty, and staff of all gender identities at all levels of healing from primary, secondary, and vicarious trauma are welcome and can benefit from trauma-informed yoga.

Lehigh's chapter of Global Medical Brigades will be embarking on a journey to Belize, January 11-18th, 2025. On this trip, students will have the opportunity to shadow doctors and support medical staff at pop-up medical clinics in remote communities that are lacking healthcare. During their time at the clinic, they will have the chance to participate in many stations including: intake and triage, consultation (students shadow doctors only), dental station – help by passing tools (similar to dental assistant), charla - provide educational info to adults or children, optometry - giving out glasses, pharmacy - arranging bags for prescribed medication, and data informatics - students enter patient info from the day into their system. Throughout the trip, personal protection is provided (face shields, masks, etc.) when necessary. Beyond the pop-up clinic, Global Medical Brigades educates students on the culture of the country and brings students to important historical sites for a one day brief excursion. This trip is an incredible opportunity for pre-med, pre-dental, or pre-health students to explore their interests, give back to an underserved community, and experience cultural immersion in Central America.
