The Fountain Hill Food Pantry is a community resource that helps address food insecurity in South Bethlehem and Fountain Hill Borough. It operates as a choice food pantry, available for client access on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month.
What is a Choice Pantry?
A choice food pantry allows individuals and families to choose the inventory items they want, similar to shopping in a grocery store.
Instead of receiving a pre-packed bag of groceries, guests walk through the pantry and select the items that best meet their dietary needs and preferences.
Why It’s Important
It’s about dignity. Clients can make decisions for themselves and their families.
It reduces waste. People take what they’ll actually use, which reduces excess or unused items.
It supports real needs. Families can choose items that align with their health needs, cooking practices, and family traditions.
How It Works
Clients are able to access the pantry during operating hours on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month. Items are typically organized by food type (grains, proteins, produce, etc.). There may be limits on items based on supply and/or household size. Volunteers escort clients through the pantry space to talk them through their options and help restock shelves, as needed.
