Students, faculty, and staff of all gender identities at all levels of healing from trauma are welcome and can benefit from trauma-informed yoga. Trauma-informed yoga is a research proven way to help survivors of sexual trauma and those experiencing vicarious trauma heal from their trauma symptoms. It is a combination of focused breathing and mindfulness skills, as well as healing poses. Trauma-informed yoga is an opportunity to learn how to work with your own discomforts. It is a judgement free zone where every participant is able to go at their own pace and skill level. The practice is not meant to be a high cardio or strength training workout, it focuses on grounding, breathing, and mindfulness with comfortable, stretching poses. Our instructor, Liz Jordon, is certified in trauma-informed practice. The instructor does not leave her own mat and will never touch participants to adjust their pose throughout the practice. It is a space where your body is entirely yours.

Lehigh's Office of Gender Violence Education and Support is piloting a new Sex Communication workshop series. We are currently looking for student participants. Culturally Competent Sexual Communication is awareness, attitudes, knowledge, and skills that work towards optimal interactions during sex through effective communication and the ability to understand and know the person(s) with whom you are going to have sex. Culturally humble sex communication is a lifelong process because competence with one sex partner does not mean competence with another. Participants are eligible to receive a $20 Amazon gift card for each workshop they participate in. The workshops are currently scheduled for the following dates and times: Workshop 1: Attitudes and Beliefs about Sexuality Thursday, April 8th 5-6 pm Workshop 2: Sexual Self Exploration Tuesday, April 13th 5:30-6:30 pm Workshop 3: Sexual Knowledge Tuesday, April 27th 5:30-6:30 pm Workshop 4: Sexual Communication Thursday, May 6th 4:30-5:30 pm After each workshop you will be asked to complete a brief assessment in order to provide feedback.
