BTS is a student-run peer education organization whose mission is to spread awareness about gender violence including sexual assault, intimate partner abuse, stalking, and sexual harassment and to prevent gender violence through healthy sexuality education. BTS works to achieve this mission through: extensive and ongoing training; offering programs about gender violence, healthy sexuality, and related topics including but not limited to healthy relationships, bystander intervention, and rape culture; providing initial support and resources to those affected by gender violence; and challenging the culture that perpetuates gender violence at Lehigh and elsewhere.
BTS is accepting new member applications until September 30. 2018. Applications can be found at: lehigh.edu/go/bts
Trauma-informed yoga is a research proven way to help survivors of sexual trauma deal with their trauma symptoms. It is a combination of focused breathing and mindfulness skills, as well as healing poses. Trauma-informed yoga is an opportunity to learn how to work with your own discomforts. It is a judgement free zone where every participant is able to go at their own pace and skill level. The practice is not meant to be a high cardio or strength testing workout, it focuses on grounding, breathing, and mindfulness with comfortable, stretching poses.
Our instructor, Liz Jordon, is certified in trauma-informed practice. The instructor does not leave her own mat and will never touch participants to adjust their pose throughout the practice. It is a space where your body is entirely yours.
Students, faculty, and staff of all gender identities at all levels of healing after a trauma are welcome and can benefit from trauma-informed yoga.
Yoga mats are provided. Please dress comfortably and layer.
