University Student Conduct Procedure for Sexual Misconduct

The University’s Student Conduct Procedures for cases involving gender violence are also detailed in the Student Handbook. If a victim determines that they want to proceed with formal university conduct action, the conduct officer will proceed with an investigation. The victim has the right to an Advocate (a trained victim’s support person) to accompany them through the university proceedings. In addition, both parties (i.e. victim and accused) have the right to be present during the University Student Conduct Hearing, to have a university friend with them and have the right to be informed of the outcome of the hearings. Also, individuals have the right to a safe environment which may include a residential change for either party until the proceedings have been completed. Adjustments may also be made regarding academic classes, if necessary. Any student found responsible for violations of the University Student Code of Conduct in regards to sexual misconduct will have one of the following sanctions imposed: expulsion, Suspension, deferred suspension, probation or disciplinary warning as a primary sanction. Other educational or administrative sanctions may be imposed including but not limited to mandatory counseling, removal from University housing, or other limitations on campus activities or involvement. Sanctioning Guidelines for cases involving sexual misconduct can be found in Appendix A, part B, of the Lehigh University Student Code of Conduct.
