This event serves as a way of educating and sharing with students the significance of various cultural items, clothings and traditions in an attempt to foster a mutual understanding among individuals of different cultures that will prevent accidental cultural appropriation and promote a genuine understanding of the significance of aspects of another culture. This mutual understanding will thus serve as a way of bridging gaps between different cultures and promote a level of unity amongst students.

Donating blood is always important but it is especially important during a pandemic.
The Community Service Office, in partnership with Miller Keystone Blood Center, will be hosting a blood drive on Tuesday, 11/10/2020 at the UC flagpole on Memorial Drive West from 10am-6pm. This will be a mobile drive.
URGENT NEED: Due to "stay at home" restrictions and "social distancing" recommendations, very few bloodmobile drives will be held in the foreseeable future. The need for blood never ends, but the supply can. There are patients who desperately need blood routinely and the only source is the volunteer blood donor.
Many provisions will be put in place to ensure the safety of donors.
Appointment required. Masks required.
Sign up for a time slot at go.lehigh.edu/blooddrive

Pumpkins = Halloween, right? Well, it wasn't always that way. The popular U.S. custom of carving pumpkins into jack-o-lanterns comes from the Celtic tradition of carving lanterns out of turnips and other root vegetables to ward off evil spirits. New immigrants to the U.S. found pumpkins more common than turnips - and easier to carve. So now every October, we cut up orange squash!
Pumpkin, turnip, pepper, or pineapple, whether you're in Bethlehem or learning remotely, we want to see your best produce- carving skills!
Can’t find a pumpkin or vegetable? This is your chance to get creative. Draw, paint, weld, or otherwise create something pumpkin themed. OR pick up a pumpkin on Thursday 10/22 or Friday 10/23 in Lamberton Hall between 3 pm - 6 pm (sign up at go.lehigh.edu/pumpkinpickup). We cant wait to see what you come up with!
Submissions to the contest are due by October 28th at midnight ET. Email pictures of your creations to pumpkin@lehigh.edu. Finalists will be announced via @LehighAfterDark Instagram stories and everyone can vote on their favorites! Contest categories include: best Lehigh theme, best international theme, best non-pumpkin carving, fan favorite, 2020 theme, best faculty/staff entry

Cancer has touched the lives of many people and October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Breast Cancer Awareness is also Zeta Tau Alpha's philanthropy focus and something that we are all passionate about. Every year we host a pink week in order to raise awareness around campus and it is much harder this year due to the circumstances of the coronavirus. Our team has been brainstorming ways to do events that are socially distanced and came up with the idea of hosting a virtual Zumba charity event. This event would take place via zoom on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at approximately 4:30PM EST. In order to participate, attendees must purchase a ticket and the money will be donated towards breast cancer charities. Our sorority wants to raise money for the fight against breast cancer and hope that we can spread awareness in a positive way through this fun dance-fitness event!
