AAUW Lehigh, in collaboration with Break the Silence and members of Lehigh's Interfraternity Council, would like to screen Justin Baldoni's "Man Enough" series, where influential men in the entertainment industry sit down for dinner conversation to talk about the way that traditional views of masculinity in America have contributed to an environment of toxic and often harmful behavior, and how they, as men, can help to combat those harmful behaviors. We would like to have an event to screen a 45 minute episode in the series and host a follow up discussion with atendees about what masculinity means to them and specifically how we can combat the issue of toxic masculinity on our campus to create a new culture of openness and allyship among all genders.

SPEAK is a gender and sexuality peer-education group on campus dedicated to teaching the Lehigh community about LGBTQ+ topics. We present to a variety of organizations on campus and host events, like the one you attend to engage Lehigh students and faculty in learning more about topics such as How To Be an Ally, Trans 101, LGBTQ+ 101, BPFQ and many more. Along with facilitating, we also take time to continue educating ourselves in all things LGBTQ+ and support one another through our journeys both on and off campus. We meet weekly throughout each semester (time and day is determined by what works for everyone) for an hour-hour 15 mins.
You can apply at go.lehigh.edu/speakapp, the application closes on Friday, October 25th. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out!
"A Towering Task: The Story of the Peace Corps" is a new documentary film that brings the story of this organization from its establishment by President Kennedy in 1961 to the present day. With government agency budgets under fire, increased nationalistic tendencies in America, and Peace Corps Volunteers at the forefront of some of the most pressing themes facing the global community, "A Towering Task" asks: What role should the Peace Corps play in the 21st century?
The film showing (1 hour 47 minutes) will be followed by a discussion and question-and-answer session with Returned Peace Corps Volunteers from the Lehigh Valley. Refreshments will be provided. This event is being co-sponsored by the Center for Community Engagement, the Comparative and International Education Program, the Environmental Initiative, the Global Studies Program, the Department of International Relations, and the Department of Sociology & Anthropology.
