SCRAP ARTS MUSIC – CHILDREN OF METROPOLIS
Five musicians who perform with gymnastic agility and percussive drive, demonstrate mesmerizing musical skill while striking and moving beautiful-sounding, hand-made instruments. Set in an other-worldly, retro-futuristic land, Children of Metropolis is inspired by the ending of Fritz Lang’s iconic 1927 cult classic film Metropolis.
A pre-show talk/reflection immediate preceeding the performance will be held in Zoellner Arts Center in the Lower Art Gallery. Students must attend both the pre-show talk/reflection and the event to receive 5x10 credit. Here is more information about the pre-show:
The pre-show speaker is Mr. Dick Boak who has had a 41-yr career at Martin Guitar – America’s oldest guitar maker and major contributor to the cultural evolution of music. Boak fell in love with Martin Guitar that he obsessively rummaged through its dumpster for scrap wood to build his own guitars. He will speak to how to build a career, and a legacy. By recycling, reusing and creating, Dick changed his life.
Questions to consider before/during/after the event:
Do you have a passion that you have not perused?
What can you do to reminder yourself to be aware of recycling, reusing and creating your future?
