5x10: Love Yourself Day

Event Date

Love Yourself Day is an event in which participants celebrate their various identities and learn new ways to practice holistic self-love. With interactive games and educational activities, we intend to promote healthy mind and body practices that we believe aligns with our mission to empower the Lehigh community in positive ways. We will be playing a feel-good song playlist, offering various stations such as nail-painting and commonplace journaling, and including various educational resources to provide students with a space to explore and develop a love for their selves.

A Palestinian and An Israeli at Lunch

Event Date

This is a follow up to the previous evening's performance of storyteller Noa Baum's moving and though-provoking performance of her personal story "A Land Twice Promised."
This program will consist of an informal conversation between Ms Baum, who was born and raised in Jerusalem and Mohsen Mahdawi, LU '22, who was born and raised in a Palestinian refugee camp.
They will share their experiences growing up in Palestine and Israel and how these different experiences led them both to seek peace and understanding.

Beyond Labels: Bridging Differences Through Storytelling A workshop with Noa Baum

This is the third program on campus featuring renowned storyteller and peace activist Noa Baum.
In this workshop, experience the storytelling model Noa developed to help build bridges for peace and dialogue in your community. Learn how listening to and telling the story of “the other” can help break through stereotypes and rhetoric as you find compassion and the possibility of change.
It is important to stay for the entire workshop. Dinner will be provided.

A Towering Task: Documentary film screening about the Peace Corps

"A Towering Task: The Story of the Peace Corps" is a new documentary film that brings the story of this organization from its establishment by President Kennedy in 1961 to the present day. With government agency budgets under fire, increased nationalistic tendencies in America, and Peace Corps Volunteers at the forefront of some of the most pressing themes facing the global community, "A Towering Task" asks: What role should the Peace Corps play in the 21st century?
The film showing (1 hour 47 minutes) will be followed by a discussion and question-and-answer session with Returned Peace Corps Volunteers from the Lehigh Valley. Refreshments will be provided. This event is being co-sponsored by the Center for Community Engagement, the Comparative and International Education Program, the Environmental Initiative, the Global Studies Program, the Department of International Relations, and the Department of Sociology & Anthropology.

5x10: Calling the Shots

Event Date

The demonstration's purpose is to identify student knowledge regarding alcohol and specifically to convey actual versus perceived alcohol consumption of Lehigh students in an effort to make students cognizant of what they are drinking. This training will discuss how to raise awareness of the effects of alcohol and explain the bystander effect.
