Are you ready to make a meaningful impact on student conduct at Lehigh University? Do you possess a strong sense of fairness and the ability to think critically in diverse situations?

The Office of Student Conduct is dedicated to creating a fair and educational system for managing the University’s student conduct process. One vital tool we employ in this mission is the University Committee on Discipline (UCOD).

The University Committee on Discipline brings together faculty, staff, and students who are trained to handle conduct cases involving students and student organizations. When necessary, the committee has the power to impose sanctions. This role is essential and calls for students who are passionate about enhancing the Lehigh University community.

At the close of each academic year, I invite current committee members to recommend new students for service. Being endorsed means that someone believes in your ability to uphold our conduct system and make decisions based on fairness and integrity.

The time commitment for this role is manageable. There will be several training sessions at the start of the fall semester, after which you will provide your availability for hearings, typically scheduled about once a month. Hearings are held Monday through Friday at either 3:00 p.m. or 4:00 p.m., with occasional rare exceptions. You can usually expect to serve on 2 to 4 hearings per semester, with each hearing lasting between one and two hours. Moreover, members have both the right and responsibility to recuse themselves from any case if they feel they cannot remain impartial or if they have biases against a participant.
