STUDENT ABSENCE

1. I was absent from class and the professor said s/he needs a note from the Dean's Office, what does that mean?

2. I have been sick for an extended period of time - what do I do now?

Contact the Office of Academic Life & Student Transitions at (610) 758-4159 to set up a meeting with Lori McClaind for further discussion.

3. The professor is not allowing me to make-up work I missed when I was absent, what can be done?

Instructors make the final decision as to whether or not make-up privileges will be granted. Contact the Office of Academic Life & Student Transitions to meet with Lori McClaind to discuss situation further.

LEAVE OF ABSENCE (LOA)

1. I need to take some time away from Lehigh, what is the process?

Refer to the LOA link and form: /content/leave-absence

The form needs to be completed with signatures and submitted to Williams 390.

2. How long can I be on a leave of absence?

Students have 8 years, from the start of their Lehigh career, to complete their degree.

3. Am I able to take classes while on a LOA?

Yes, students may take classes at another college/university. In order to receive transfer credits, they must go through the transfer credit process found here: 

4. Do I need to provide any documentation for a LOA?

If you are taking a LOA for medical reasons, then medical documentation must be attached.

NON-RETURN

1. I want to transfer out of Lehigh, what is the process?

2. I want to transfer, who completes the College Recommendation form?

Contact Mikki Madera from the Office of Student Conduct at (610) 758-4632. She can assist you with your form.

3. What if I change my mind and want to return to Lehigh in a future term?

You can take a leave of absence for a specified period of time and that time can be extended if necessary but note that a student must complete their degree within 8 years of maticulating.

READMISSION

1. What is the process for returning from a leave of absence?

2. How long does it take for me to be able to register for classes?

Students will receive an electronic notification of their registration. Student's accounts will then be activated within 3-5 days after receiving their notification.

3. How do I get my PIN to register for my classes?

Contact your Academic Advisor or the Dean's Office of your college of enrollment. 

4. I did not take a leave of absence when I left. Can I still be readmitted?
