Become a vital part of our Student Affairs team as a Social Media Intern, and help us foster a vibrant and inclusive online community for students. This internship offers hands-on experience in managing official student affairs social media channels, creating engaging content, and promoting student life initiatives and resources. This position reports to the Director for Special Projects in the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs.

 
Responsibilities:
Content Creation: Collaborate with the Student Affairs team to conceptualize and produce captivating content for social media platforms, such as posts, stories, videos, and graphics, that highlight student life, events, and resources.
 
Social Media Management: Assist in scheduling and publishing content on Instagram, ensuring a consistent and timely flow of information to engage with students effectively.
 
Community Engagement: Engage with students on social media by responding to comments, direct messages, and mentions in a personable and helpful manner.
 
Trend Analysis: Stay informed about the latest social media trends and features to propose innovative ideas that resonate with the student audience.
 
Event Coverage: Provide live coverage of student affairs events on social media platforms, including live updates, behind-the-scenes glimpses, and interactive elements.
 
Student Spotlights: Identify and feature student stories, achievements, and experiences to showcase the diversity and accomplishments within the student community.
 
Collaborative Initiatives: Work closely with various departments within Student Affairs and student organizations to promote events, services, and resources through social media.
 
Mental Health and Wellness: Assist in sharing resources and promoting activities that support students' mental health, well-being, and personal growth.
 
Photography and Videography: Capture high-quality photos and videos to create compelling visual content that reflects the student experience.

  • Shape online presence, support student well-being, and celebrate achievements as a Student Affairs Social Media Intern.
  • Background in communications, marketing, or design preferred but not required.
  • Requirements: Passion for student development, strong social media skills, creativity, excellent communication, time management, attend events, team player, student-centered, visual skills preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines in a dynamic student affairs environment.
  • Participate in assigned student club/org and campus-wide events, which may include early mornings, evenings, or weekends.
  • Must provide a sample social media post.
