Student Center Operations Graduate Assistant Position Overview

This Graduate Assistant will work as a member of the Student Affairs Student Center Operations staff. This role requires a commitment of 20 hours per week and provides an allotted monthly stipend and approximately 9 credit hours per year, to be determined each academic . The Graduate Assistant reports directly to the Director of Student Center Operations (SCO) and is responsible for the duties outlined below.  The Graduate Assistant is instrumental as a role model and mentor while fostering an inclusive welcoming environment for our student staff.

Qualifications

  • Education: Must be enrolled in a degree program at Lehigh University.
  • Experience: Requires co-curricular experience as a student leader and previous customer service or work experience.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Works well independently with a high level of initiative.
    • Collaborates effectively with undergraduate students.
    • Possesses strong computer skills (Google Docs, Drives, Sheets, Chat). Ability to learn department-specific software (e.g., WhenIWork, Pixit, Canva, LINC, BrightSigns).
    • Well-organized with clear and effective communication skills.
    • Experience with audio-visual equipment is not required but is helpful..
  • Availability: Must be able to handle a flexible work schedule, primarily day hours, some early evenings, and select weekend hours (staff retreats).

Responsibilities

  • Input and update staff information, post notifications, and manage staff communication methods.
  • Develop and revise all necessary materials for staff operations.
  • Maintain information in the LINC group section; utilize the LINC for staff surveys, reading materials, training, and quizzes.
  • Create and maintain assessment data, including programs and training.
  • Generate information and data for mid- and end-of-year reports.
  • Oversee Digital Information Boards (DIBS): train and utilize Bright View software, maintain and respond to the form email account, and schedule content for University Center and Lamberton Hall signage.

Student Staffing

  • Scheduling: Train and coordinate student schedules for Building Managers and Supervisors using WhenIWork software.
  • Hiring: Assist with interviewing and hiring Building Supervisors and Building Managers.
  • Training: Facilitate one-on-one and small group training for new staff based on observation and assessment.
  • Staff Retreats: Develop and implement the Student Staff Retreats for fall and spring, incorporating the department's bLUeprint Student Life Curriculum.
  • Payroll: Oversee student staff payroll, create bi-monthly reports for the Reservations Coordinator, maintain spreadsheet records for hours/wages, and manage Google Sheets account balances.
  • Weekly Staff Meetings: Develop programs and materials for two weekly staff meetings, incorporating bLUeprint Student Life Curriculum and assessment planning.
  • Spring Team Projects: Oversee the implementation, communication, and scheduling of Spring Team Projects and final presentations.
  • Assessment and Evaluations: Administer staff assessment surveys (e.g., Baseline/Campus Labs), compile data, and assist in the March evaluation process for Building Supervisors.

Operations and Support

  • Welcome Desk: Recommend, create, and update work resources, forms, and desk operation procedures.
  • Assistance: Support the Student Center Operations Director and SCO Reservations staff; monitor day-to-day operations at the UC Welcome Desk.
  • Regulations: Maintain familiarity with all University policies, regulations, and procedures.
  • Activities: Assist with SCO-sponsored programs and activities in and around the Clayton UC and Lamberton Hall.
