Our sport psychology team works collaboratively with a student-athlete to identify strategies that might be helpful amid the unique performance-related demands that matter most to you. We’re here to support you as you prepare for the high-stakes performance moments in your life. Sport psychology consultations can occur in our office or on the sideline. Common topics for one-on-one consultations include setting goals, navigating performance-related anxiety, balancing a busy schedule, building and maintaining confidence, navigating team-based relationships, mentally bouncing back from injury or setbacks, and developing a performance routine that can help facilitate a consistent mindset that is optimal for you.

UCPS offers workshops that can be tailored to meet the unique needs of your team. Topics for these workshops can include enhancing team culture and communication, clarifying goals, and teaching valuable mental performance skills. These sessions can assist Lehigh teams with reaching their goals both on and off the field.

Building strong and supportive relationships with our coaches and athletics staff is also an important element of our work to foster the wellbeing and performance of student-athletes.  Our clinicians can collaborate with coaches and athletics staff in their efforts to create a challenging and supportive team environment. This work encompasses a wide range of activities, and some examples include:

  • Fostering a motivational climate
  • Enhancing communication or constructively navigating conflict
  • Integrating psychological skills into coaching practice
  • Consultation regarding support for student-athletes in moments of challenge, distress, or crisis
  • Discussing questions that might arise in relation to mental health / performance
