The Clayton University Center at Packer Hall was originally named Packer Hall with construction starting in 1866 and completed in 1868 and is rich in history. The CUC is one of the most iconic structures on Lehigh’s Asa Packer Campus. Within the stone walls, you will find a variety of places to eat, the Wells Fargo bank, informal student study, and lounge spaces, in addition to administrative offices. The original building built by Asa Packer opened in 1868 as Packer Hall. The last major renovation was in 1956 and has been approved for an expansion and building renovation to be named after Kevin and Lisa Clayton. The newly renovated building will be known as the Clayton University Center at Packer Hall. Phase 1 is expected to commence in 2022 with a targeted completion date of 2024. Phase 2 has an expected completion date of 2025. The historic nature of the building will be preserved while still allowing for the creation of a dynamic, state-of-the-art environment for student life. This will allow us to create a welcoming environment, where students can connect, build community, and collaborate in areas designed for work, learning, events, casual gatherings, dining spaces, club activities, offices, and student services. This re-imagining of the UC to the CUC will allow this iconic building to once again be the heartbeat of campus.
Lamberton Hall re-opened after an extensive renovation in February of 2006. This building provides additional social and programming space for our Lehigh community. The first floor offers large programming and event space, and the adjacent Hawk’s Nest eatery offers late-night dining. The mezzanine level houses our game room equipped with gaming systems, billiards, and air hockey. Both the CUC and Lamberton offer space that can be reserved for events, programs, and meetings. Our professional and student staff are available to ensure that your event is a success.
