Here at Lehigh University, Student Center Operations has the privilege of overseeing two unique and vibrant buildings: The Clayton University Center at Packer Hall and Lamberton Hall. Student Centers are often considered the “hearthstone” of a campus, serving as the central gathering place for students, faculty, staff, and guests. It is on this principle that we strive to create welcoming and inclusive environments within both of our facilities, offering programs, activities, and services that enhance the living and learning experiences of the Lehigh community.
The Clayton University Center at Packer Hall, originally known as Packer Hall, is a historic gem on campus. Built in 1868 by university founder Asa Packer, this iconic structure was the first building specifically constructed for Lehigh. Packer Hall underwent significant expansion and renovation in 1956, and we are now in the final stages of a major renovation made possible by the generous gift of Kevin L. Clayton ’84 ’13P and Lisa A. Clayton ’13P. The newly renamed Clayton University Center (Clayton UC) features extensive renovations and reconfigurations, creating a dynamic environment for both undergraduate and graduate student life while maintaining the building’s historic grandeur. This renovation project is designed to transform the student experience and restore the Clayton UC as a central crossroads for the community.
Lamberton Hall, which re-opened after an extensive renovation in February 2006, offers additional social and programming space for the Lehigh community. The first floor features a spacious event and programming area, while the adjacent Hawk’s Nest eatery provides a variety of dining options. The mezzanine level houses our game room, complete with gaming systems, billiards, and air hockey. The Lamberton Great Room offers a versatile space to host a wide array of activities and events.
As you explore our website, we hope you find valuable information about our facilities and services, useful guides for event planning, and exciting opportunities to engage in the various programs and activities hosted in both of our buildings. We look forward to welcoming you and supporting your experience at Lehigh!
