Student Success and Advocacy at Lehigh
At Lehigh, we are dedicated to supporting your growth as an individual and as a scholar. Whether you are navigating the initial adjustments of your first weeks on campus or seeking to strengthen your academic approach, our team is here to help you reach your full potential.
We recognize that success is rarely a linear path; rather, it requires personal agency and the active use of support systems when challenges arise. From academic coaching to guidance through complex transitions, we serve as a central resource to help you navigate the various support networks across campus.

Academic Policies and Forms
Student Absence Policy & Form
Active class participation is key to success. If you need to miss class, review your syllabus, contact your instructor right away, and keep Academic Life & Student Transitions informed. Use the Student Absence Form only for 3+ consecutive missed days due to extenuating circumstances. For single-day absences, reach out to your instructor directly.
SOS Petition (Academic Exceptions)
The Committee on the Standing of Students (SOS) reviews petitions when unexpected circumstances affect your academics. Use this process to request exceptions to policy, such as a late add/drop, extension of an incomplete, a make-up final, or reinstatement. Petitions require documentation, signatures, and timely submission. Filing does not guarantee approval, but it ensures your situation is considered fairly.
Leaves & Transitions
Sometimes life happens. If you need to step away from Lehigh, we're here to help you navigate the process of withdrawing or taking a temporary leave. We'll support you in planning a successful return when you're ready.
Tools for Faculty & Staff
You are a crucial part of our student support network, and your efforts create a more supportive campus for all. By learning about the common challenges our students face and familiarizing yourself with available resources, you can contribute to a welcoming community where every student feels seen, safe, and supported.
Our Commitment to Student Learning and Development
At Lehigh, we're committed to developing a community of curious and engaged learners, who understand and make themselves and the world better through thoughtful action, innovation, and authentic care for self and others.
