Office of Disability Support Services: Graduate Assistant Position

Disability Support Services (DSS) in the Dean of Students Office is accepting applications for a Graduate Assistantship for the spring 2023 semester.

Responsibilities

The Graduate Assistant position will require the GA to work 20 hours per week throughout the spring semester from 10 January 2023 through 26 May 2023.  The GA will not work from 13 March 2023 through 17 March 2023.  The GA will report directly to the Assistant Dean of Students for Academic Support Services.

The DSS GA will be exposed to a variety of experiences, including assisting with initial documentation review, updating electronic case files, participating in documentation review meetings, and program development.  The primary responsibilities of the DSS GA will also include providing one-on-one academic coaching and study skills training to undergraduate students with disabilities, assisting with note taking accommodation scheduling, and other duties as assigned.  The GA will be expected to serve as a resource for referrals to various campus services such as tutoring and counseling.  Exam proctoring will also be required, especially during midterm and final exam periods.  GA schedule will likely vary slightly during exam periods and may include some evening and weekend hours during these periods.

Qualifications

•  Matriculated and in good standing in graduate program in the College of Education at Lehigh University

•  Excellent organizational, administration, and interpersonal communication skills

•  Strong time management skills

•  Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, education, counseling, or related field preferred

•  Experience in academic coaching or counseling preferred

•  Ability to work well with undergraduate students

•  Solid understanding of disability law in higher education

•  Ability to work independently and as a member of a professional team

Compensation

The stipend for the 2023 semester will be $9,000 paid semi-monthly and will include 9 COE credits.  A separate stipend may be available for work during summer.
