Building Manager Position Overview

Building Managers are responsible for working collaboratively with the Director, Administrative Staff, Graduate Assistant, and Building Supervisors. General overview of responsibilities include actively engaging in the planning, implementation, and leading of weekly staff meetings and retreats; representing staff in team meetings and planning sessions; coordinating and participating in hiring and training new Sups; incorporating bLUeprint five foundations across all aspects of the position, and taking leadership roles in End of Year Team Projects.

 Building Managers 

  • Are expected to be proficient in all aspects of the position and to lead by example

  • Are expected to be motivational and collaborative by developing positive relationships with co-workers and staff, demonstrating strong written and verbal communications skills, and always willing to go above and beyond

  • Are expected to handle the first round Building Supervisor hiring process and prioritizing top candidate recommendations for Director and Graduate Assistant second round interviews

  • Are expected to manage department lost and found email and Groupme accounts

  • Are expected to be committed to the job, by taking initiative, providing feedback, and participating in a positive manner

  • Are expected to lead staff meetings, retreats, and a team through End of Year Team Projects

 Building Managers handle all aspects of Building Supervisor responsibilities

  • Coordinating audio-visual set-up and take-down of equipment in meeting rooms

  • Issuing student organization keys

  • Providing  security and conducting building lockup

  • Assisting with enhanced office related duties

  • Oversight of the University lost and found

  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned

HOURS:

In addition to regular scheduled shifts, Managers must attend a weekly planning meeting with the GA and Director.  Additional hours will include new staff training during the first four weeks of the fall semester and may be required during End of Year Team Projects in April.  Managers must also attend and lead one weekly staff meeting scheduled at 4:30 p.m. The meeting day will vary each semester based on the Graduate Assistant schedule and Building Manager availability.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • This is a Work-Study opportunity

  • Must be able to work independently, willing to take initiative, be dependable, and responsible. This position requires excellent speaking and customer service skills.

PAY RATE:

The pay rate begins at $10.00 per hour.
