Orientation Leader Position Description 2024-2025
Orientation Leaders are student role models who serve a vital role in the transition of our first-year and transfer students into the Lehigh community. OLs are dedicated leaders who possess strong communication skills, a desire to be part of team, and pride in Lehigh University. Orientation Leaders work with a small group of first-year students throughout the August Orientation program as well as the fall semester. This is a great way to get involved, meet new friends and make a difference!
Requirements
- Must be a current full-time Lehigh University student.
- Must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher and be in good standing with the University.
- Must abide by all University policies.
- Must be able to participate in summer training beginning Saturday, August 16, 2025. Orientation Leaders living on campus will move in Friday, August 15, 2025. Must be able to attend Spring Orientation Leader Training (dates listed above).
- Must be able to attend all of Orientation which will take place from Thursday, August 21 - Sunday, August 24, 2025.
Responsibilities of an Orientation Leader
- Lead a small group of approximately 20 first-year students throughout Orientation
- Facilitate conversations on transition issues
- Role model appropriate academic and social behaviors to incoming students
- Work with a team of approximately 90 Orientation Leaders and the 8 members of the Orientation Coordinator Staff
- Participate in other Office of the First-Year Experience programs as needed during the fall semester 2025, such as serving as a peer leader for NavigateLU
- Communicate with parents and family members of new students
- Have fun!
Transfer Orientation Leader
- Fulfill all duties and expectations of an Orientation Leader
- Lead group of transfer students through Orientation experience
- Deliver specialized group meeting content geared toward supporting transfer students in their transition to Lehigh
