Camp Hawk Counselor Position Description 2019-2020

Camp Hawk Counselors are student role models who serve a vital role in the transition of our first-year students into the Lehigh community. Camp Hawk Counselors are dedicated leaders who possess strong communication skills, a desire to be part of team, and pride in Lehigh University. CHCs work with a small group of first-year students throughout the weekend of Camp Hawk and throughout the fall semester. This is a great way to get involved, meet new friends and make a difference!

Requirements

  • Must be a current full-time Lehigh University student
  • Must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher and be in good standing with the University
  • Must abide by all University policies
  • Must be able to return to campus and participate in a retreat Saturday, August 22 and Sunday, August 23.
  • Must be able to attend at all spring and fall trainings, and be available to attend the Great Pocono Escape on either the 2nd or 3rd weekend of September

Responsibilities of a Camp Hawk Counselor

  • Lead a small group of 10-12 first-year students throughout Camp Hawk
  • Facilitate meaningful conversations with first-year students
  • Role model appropriate academic and social behaviors to incoming students
  • Work with a team of approximately 10-12 other Camp Hawk Counselors, the OFYE Graduate Assistant, and the Director of First-Year Experience
  • Attend weekly spring and early fall training/planning sessions
  • Attend a Camp Hawk Counselor retreat early in the fall semester   
  • Participate in other Office of the First-Year Experience programs as needed during the Fall semester 2019 such as serving as a peer leader for the evoLUtion Seminar
  • Have fun!
